What is the procedure to register power of attorney ?

I am moving to UK and hence planning to give power of attorney to my father-in-law. This will allow me to execute many things including registration of my property while I am away from teh country. So, I would like to know the process. The property is in Bangalore, but my Father-in-law stays in Kerala. Is it required that I register the power of attorney in Bangalore or can I do the same in Kerala also?
