Procedure to renew passport as single though married ?

I have been married for 1.5 years.There is a marital discord and my husband is not speaking to me from past 4 months.I do not have a marriage certificate.I need to renew my pass port which is going to expire in another 3 months. Can i renew it as single? Or if i submit annexure K, is it mandatory to fill point 2 i.e date of separation in the form.We live in the same house and not talking.Husband is not co-operating in getting a marriage certificate or getting a joint affidavit.Please advice.
