I was divorced in 2004 with mutual consent. But due to some of my personal issues i didnt take the divorce certificate back then and even till now.I didnt even care about the certificate. But recently ,i realised that i need that certificate for applying passport.I asked my spouse,he carelessly replied that he had placed it somewhere and he couldnt find it himself.I dont have any hopes on him that he will give it to me.I have been contacting the concerned lawyer since 2 months but he sis not responding properly, hee says he will check the following day every time but he never does that. Its been going on like this since 2months but i havent seen any progress. What steps shall be taken to get the certificate?

Go to the Court (Office) where you got the Divorce and meet the Superintendent and ask him how to apply for certified copy of the Judgement. Since the file is of 2004 it might be sent to the Record Section. Locating old file is difficult job. You have to spend some amount. Otherwise, it takes several months to locate your file. Due to piling up of the case, it takes considerable time till your application comes in queue. If you are from Hyderabad, you can contact me, I will send my clerk and get it done for you within 15 days. You can contact me through Lawrato.
