Hi.

You should visit the sub- registrar office where the registration of sale deed was done and should refer the clause for the payment. There you will find reference of demand draft number and bank. Visit the bank and ask the bank with an application for stop payment along with signature of buyer or issuer of the demand draft.

In case DD has been lost, you must inform the police station under whose jurisdiction, you lost your cheque and get a Diary entry made.

In addition, contact the concerned bank, to stop the payment of cheque, and request purchaser of property who got DD prepared from bank, from his account, to co-operate with you and go to bank with copy of DDR, to get fresh DD issued by bank. Bank may also ask indemnity letters and affidavits.
