How to obtain birth certificate of NRI

I was born in east Africa in 1955 and now I live in U.K. My father was born in Porbander India in 1911 .i am trying to get my father birth certificate.The only papers I have got of my father is his British passport which states that he was born in India .i do not have any address of where he lived and no proof of which school he went to .he left India when he was a young boy I need to find his birth certificate to try and get OCI
You can't get the birth certificate. Ask your father to contact in person to Ministry of External Affairs, New Delhi, India. He has to prove his credentials. To entertain this request, MEA has their absolute discretion.

your only option is to travel back to probandar and make enquiries there. there may be a register at the local office, so you will need to head there and make the necessary enquiries. porbandar cannot be a very big place, and information should be easily available with the help of a local.
