How to get certificate of guardianship documents

I was adopted from an Ashram in Mumbai, somewhere in 77-78. I want the certificate of Guardianship Documents. I contacted the Ashram but they said they don't have such old records. Anyway I can obtain it from somewhere else?
you can file an application in the District Court under "The Guardians AND WARDS ACT,1980, with a prayer to pass order to concerned authority for declaration of guardianship. once the court directs the ashram they should provide you with the certificate.
