How to correct error on marksheets

I passed my ssc in 2010 from Maharashtra board. There is a single letter error in marksheet correct surname is 'meleath 'in ssc marksheet written as 'melath'. Can this problem be resolved by govt gazette and affidavit? In all other certificate my surname is written as meleath which is correct one. As I going to give upsc exam next year. Please help

- You will need an attested copy of your birth certificate and an affidavit sworn by you.
- You will have to apply to the divisional board as per your city and as them to issue the corrected certificate.
- attach the above stated document along with your application.
