How can I get death certificate of my mother who died 26 years ago

I want to make death certificate of my mother who died 26 years ago...problem is i dont have her any id proof. I only possess the slip where she was burnt. Please help.. i talked to sdm of my area..but he is saying id proof is mandatory .from where i should get help.
This will be a problem. You could show your passport-your mothers name will be on it. Else there must be some document in which her ID would have been taken-bank accounts, election card, etc. The only other recourse seems to be to get a declaration from a competent court.
