Hindu male died in 1951 names added in 1957 when succession started

I want know if a male hindu died in 1951 then name of the son who was eldest was entered on the record then after that in 1957 he added names of 3 other brothers on the record. when can one say opened succession in 1951 or 1957. Are there any supreme court citations or some supporting authority
The succession to the property would happen on the demise of the person holding the property. Therefore, in your case it would be in 1950.
