Govt. department increased the probation period what to do

Sir, I have joined punjab goverment electricity deptt last year. I have given appointment letter on which it is written that there is 2 years probation period in which only 10k is given as pay. After probation salary will be given with allowances. But now deppt is increasin our probation becoz punjab govt increased it from 2 to 3 year.. is it legal ?
It depends upon the terms of the contract. If in the terms of contract, it is written that the probation period can be altered at any point of time then it is legal. If there is no such provision which covers the alteration of the probation period, then it is against the law and your rights have been violated.
