can i drive the second hand car i bought before complete transfer

I am going to buy an old car and I have already paid the advance money for that against the receipt. The dealer is saying that after the payment of the rest of the amount, I can immediately take the car with me and after that only, the procedure for transfer of ownership will start which may take up to 15 days. I want to ask whether I can legally drive the car between those 15 days or not. If yes, then what are all the documents that I should demand from the dealer while making the complete payment.
Ask the dealer for all the past ownership papers of the car. Also ask him for temporary transfer certificate to you till the final one comes. You will also need insurance and the registration certificate.
