Can an affidavit be cancelled once signed

My father in law signed an affidavit 4years back but now he wants to cancel it
How can he do so

Affidavit means a statement of fact on oath . That is that what is stated in affidavit is a true account of facts mentioned therein.
Therefore of once you said something as true how can you goback?
This is answer in general.
However iay depend upon facts of a case and one-may be able to say that what ever he stated earlier (in the affidavits) does not hold good any more and the earlier statement could be withdrawn.
