Can a company be held liable for wrong done by another company

If a company A assignes a task to creating x documents to B. But B does not do that job so B assigns the task to C..but after few years it turns out that the documents are duplicate. C is responsible for the mistake and he is accepting it. Now case is registered against Company A by officers. Now is B safe or in trouble.Will B face any trouble in court

Yes as C will tell that B have given me this work so B have to answer in court as A knowz B but A doesn't know C. So B is in trouble,and B have to prove why he gave work to C without asking A company.

Under the principle of Master-Servant liability, all companies attached to company A is responsible. But that is just in theory, you may plead innocence as there is no 'mens rea' (guilty intention) on your part.
