Wife is blackmailing and harassing, what can be done

Sir I have a hindu friend who legally got married a week before without any witness. Now when I asked him why he did so the answer was shocking that a girl was blackmailing her saying if he will not marry to her then she will complaint against him for making relationship. Now after legally marriage she want him to leave his parents and torturing him. He don't want to leave his parents and want to cancel relationship to her so want to know what to do will he have to go for cancellation or go for divorce and how much time it will take. He want to leave that girl but she is still blackmailing him saying that she will file the case. So help me to help my friend.
First u give her notice for restitution of conjugal right u/s 9 A of Hindu marriage act. If she don't respond to that then u can file divorce petition in the court of law for dissolution of marriage. Regards

You have stated repeatedly that it is a legal marriage if that is assumed then he has to file for divorce there is no provision for cancelling the marriage. It is advisable to meet an advocate with all marriage documents to verify the validity of the marriage. Even if not valid the girl also has rights she can ask for as both had a marriage like relation.
