Wife filed case and asking dowry without signing on mutual divorce

25-Jan-2023 (In Divorce Law)
2 days back my sister in law has given a petition to the local police station stating to provide all her gold & dowry. Now we have agreed to give everything but she has to sign a mutual divorce. But now the police is pushing us to give off the gold without getting our advocates involved. We insisted on giving all her belongings after the 2nd motion at the family court is completed. What can I do on this? I want to make sure that she doesn't file any more cases as well as signs on the mutual divorce agreement. Only after that, her belongings will be handed over.

Hai.

As a practising lawyer i wont entertain such queries since from ur query itself u have a lawyer to whom u executed vakkalath. U must consult it directly to him. Its against the professional ethics n also not loyal to ur advocate to ask such a query here.

Sorry my friend n also. The police have no role in this case. Please consult with ur lawyer immediatly.

I am afraid you are using the incorrect term 'dowry'; it is 'stridhan'. This belongs to her. The husbands family has no right hold or withhold the same or use it as a bargaining chip to force her to agree and sign mutual divorce papers.
