Dear client, all the dowry articles, marrige gifts, personal belongings of the bride are included in istridhan, she has right to take all the above mentioned articles, further she has a right to claim maintenance for herself as well as for her children, in Sikh religion Hindu marriage act applies, so wife has all the rights to claim.

Yes a woman have full right to demand her streedhan back from in-laws in case of divorce and she can claim a maintenance for herself and her children if she seeks custody of them, it is up to her or with mutual consent about the custody of the children . ,.,.

Dear Madam, the istridhan belongs to the lady and she can claim the istridhan at the time of divorce. But this may create a discussion, that the boy side may claim that you had taken the istridhan already. And the main grounds available to a woman normally are that she can claim divorce on ground of cruelty by husband, or Adultry (having extra marital relationships) but in all the cases you should be able to prove the case . the children can be in your custody as you are the mother and you can claim for the expenses for the upbringing of children from your husband if you start living separately or you get divorce from him.
