Physical Torture by my Wife and threatening to commit suicide

During my stay with my wife I noticed some abnormal behaviour of my wife like OCD, Depression, Physically Abusing me, Suicidal Threat and Attempt . Also during my stay with my wife, my wife mercilessly physically tortured me regularly during the night and also in the day and such physical torture upon me by my wife accelerated day by day due to which I was compelled to send my wife at her father’s house. So it is almost 9 months we are living separately. In the mean time I have received a lawyer notice on behalf of my wife asking me to contact with my wife. Also the lawyer on behalf my wife has threatened me over telephone and Social networking site (Facebook) several times. It is impossible to stay with her because her physical torture. So please suggest me what should I do now? We are married for 4 years under Hindu acts.
As a first step i suggest you to reply to the lawyer notice with the help of your advocate and thereafter try to negotiate with your wife with the support of your parents for any possible settlement. If that does not work then i suggest you to file a divorce petition.
