Parents separated 30 years ago can it be regarded as divorce

My father and mother got separated before 30 years, does the law says that they both got divorced.one of my friends told that it is considered as divorce.kindly advise

your father and mother got separated before 30 years, before 30 years separated was not divorce.your parents have to file divorce petition before the court,then the court will pass the order the divorce then only they have divorce.
