Married in one city can husband file divorce in another city

I am from city X. I am married for 4 years.I have a Kid. My Husband family(Parents and Brother) also stays in city X from Past 30 yrs and they are native of City Y We were married in city X. Now my husband has sent a legal notice to attend the court in city Y by giving there city Y address. Please advice me on the below points. 1.Can they file a divorce case in City Y court. 2.I will not be able to go to City Y and attend the court.What should i do in this case Please advice on this.
[1]. If the City X and Y within one state you can approach the High Court and get the case transferred to X,, if the X and Y are falls under different state you have approach Supreme Court of Inida.
[2] If you also desire to apply for Divorce you can file at Y City and subsequently you have to inform the same at X court.
[3]. Or you can file your Objection stating the case not maintainable under Section 14 of Hindu Marriage Act at X court.

Yes he can file in a city most latest he staying or both people stayed together or got married ,what you need to do is seek good advice and remedy at earliest .he has filed this case in another city so that you have problem contacting and if you won't attend he would get ex parte order in just six month times .I would suggest you can meet to our office so that it can be challenged and goes in your favor from your city itself .OFc of : Adv Pankaj Kumar .

If you marriage is solemnized in city X and if you"ll have been living together in city X, he can file the divorce petition only in X. If at all your husband files a petition in city Y, you can file your objections to same to dismiss the same on the count of jurisdiction.
