Legal way to get out of forced marriage

23-Nov-2023 (In Divorce Law)
I've a friend who is being forced to get married.. but she wants to live her life by having further studies, she is a major(hindu) ... but she will face a threat, if she tells her decision in the family? What can she do? and we are afraid that if we go to the police, they call on counselling and make their parents meet, but we are sure that their parents will be threat to her life in that case?? what can we do now?

Hi

If you are afraid of police, then the next best option for your friend is to get registered marriage at either the grooms/bride's place.

At the sub-registrar office, both the parties have to appear and file a notice of intention of marriage.

The Sub-Registrar will paste on their office notice board, the notice of intention of marriage and the notice will be kept for 30 days.

After 30 days if there is no objection, then the couple can get married in front of sub-registrar.
