Is the second marriage void marriage when the divorce is not complete

i am foreigner and married to indian (christians). i think his final divorce from previous marriage hadnt been completed by the time we signed papers, so do i need proper divorce or is it void and how to prove if it is void, as i dont have his previous divorce papers.
Yes second marriage in presence of the first marriage is void ab initio. Divorce from the first marriage is necessary so make sure he has divorced his previous wife. Polygamy is a crime in india and the second marriage in presence of first marriage is of no value

Hi, the remarraige during subsistence of the first marriage is void. You may approach the local authorities of the first wife for confirmation that first marriage was not terminated when you entered in to marriage.
