Is the bank statement / passbook valid proof for filing divorce

24-Jun-2023 (In Divorce Law)
Hi, Can you please tell me if Bank Statement is accepted as valid address proof (for wife) in Indian courts for divorce proceedings? I have moved out of my in-laws' house and I am staying with my relatives in the same city. I do not have an address proof for this house. My hometown is a different city. I have updated my current address (relative's address) in my bank account. Is the statement / passbook valid proof for filing divorce?

Hi
Your residential address as stated in your bank statement is a valid address proof and the jurisdiction of court can be based on your residential address in your bank statement.
however you should also carry your aadhar card as identity card.. Address in aadhar card does not determine jurisdictions

Proof of address is required in matrimonial proceedings to avoid misuse of court jurisdictions. If you are staying at a particular address and supported by a proof of address is sufficient. You need not worry about the same as the same is sufficient in your case.
