In-laws asking for dowry before marriage and on refusing cancelled it

Hi I am from U.P. and I have a problem related to dowry...My in-laws are demanding cash and gold before marriage after roka ceremony. They are were forcefully demanding and sometimes blackmailing us for dowry just because his son is lieutenant in Indian navy they are in so much over confidence that they can get even crores for his son in dowry..They were blackmailing us from 1 year and 3 months that they are interested in this relationship but actually they not commit till date they have only done roka ceremony year before and after few months of fixing they start demanding and when my father refused to pay them 31 lacs in cash they rejected me and start searching other girl secretly for his son. No one has right to do like that .it is offence to demand for dowry ,you may complain in police station against your in laws but one thing keep in mind that after that they won't marry with you so if you are ready for that than you should go and lodge FIR and also can complain in your husband's higher authority

Dowry laws are very strict law ,and its impact is severe, As you had mentioned that you and your fiancee are in constant touch and regularly talk to each other with that as you had mentioned that both of you had soft corner for each other, My advice ask your fiancee to get the issue sorted out, If it works then ok otherwise you had option to file complaint in Police station where you reside ,And I can assure you that definitely they will be in trouble for harassing you for the Dowry Demand ,for further contact me with all details !
