How can husband protect himself from threats of wife's family

My friend got married in April 2016 as per Hindu Vidhi, haven't registered the marriage yet.His wife was leaving alone so her family was called and they took her and then after few days they all came and abused my friend's family and also gave life threat and said they will do a case. She is still at her parents, I would like to know how can my friend's family secure themselves as the girls family might pose trouble and what will they need to do if they want divorce and will they still have to give alumni?
Firstly, your friend should collect evidence of his innocence which involves recording the conversations with his wife. Just be polite and record all your conversations. This is essential as these recordings will prove the complaints she files against him as false and baseless. Try and record the threatening conversations wherein she is threatening him to file false complaints etc.
Basically try and collect evidence that she is blackmailing your friend and his family.
Secondly, your friend should intimate the nearest Police Station about the facts of his case in writing stating that his wife and her parents may file such a false case against him and his family.
