Your friend has to file a petition to declare the marriage as null and void stating that her consent is not free consent. Since the other party may choose to contest the petition she has to prepare herself for a contesting case. It is better to disclose it to her family and seek the legal help with her parents to avoid any further mistakes.

Your friend will have to decide whether she wants to continue with the relationship or not. If your friend feels that the boy has changed and that she cannot live with him, then she has to consult a Lawyer and take the next steps. It would be better that she discloses the real facts with her family and take the support of the family. She cannot come out of this without the knowledge and support of her family. Surely she will have to obtain a divorce if she wants to marry someone else. Kindly contact me for a detailed discussion, so that I can give you a clear advice and further guidance.

She cannot get divorce within one year from the date of her marriage.
For divorce under mutual consent both should have lived separately at least for one year from the date of their separation.
Whether the marriage is registered or not, if the marriage has been solemnised and there are evidences for the same then the marriage is valid, hence it can be dissolved only through a court of law.
If both agree for divorce on mutual consent, let them both wait for completion of one year from the date of marriage and go ahead with the filing of the divorce petition on the grounds of mutual consent after that.
Dont be misguided by some greedy people's words and get into trouble by just getting a divorce deed executed and notarised. This is not a valid divorce and it will remain as a thorn for ever.
