Can I claim for compensation after divorce

07-Apr-2023 (In Divorce Law)

I got my divorce granted in February 2014.We got married under Christian law in Kerala and started living separately immediately after my child's birth. The divorce was granted through mutual consent. At that point I was not in a mind set to seek alimony and stuff, hence didn't demand any compensation. Now my son is 3 years old. Can I claim any compensation for my son now? My husband is earning handsome salary. I am also working, but recently started my career and I am 29 years old. Moreover my Husband had told in the court he would like to see my son only when he will be 18.Pls advise

yes, you can go for petition under Section 125 CRPC seeking for maintenance until you marry for second time and you will loose the right of maintenance only if you re-marry or else with your life time you can approach the court of law seeking maintenance
