I advise you to get draft compromise deed from a good lawyer having knowledge of family and criminal law. You have to safegsafeguard your interest as well as avoid further litigation of any kind. If you wish it can be prepared and shared.

498A is compoundable offence. If your in-laws wants to compromise on that matter, so accept and pursue on compromise as early as possible.
If charge sheet not submitted so convince the investigation officer for submitting the final report (FR) .
Plz compromise affidavits filed both parties in the court. After that the judicial officer finally decide the matter on compromise affidavits.
In future there is not risk for you.

According to cr.p c 498 A is not a compoundable offence. But many decision of court if party wants compromise .It should be. But in your matter it is not pending before court.it means it's not obligatory on party.

If you want to compromise than do it other wise go for anticipatory bail or for quashing in high court but in my view if they are ready to compromise so it's betterway ,and your family life also save .
