Made fake profile on facebook can someone file complaint against me

I did a mistake in face.basically i m in relationship since last 4years with a girl.recently a guy came between us & trying to break that relationship.his intention is also not to my girlfriend.i made two fake profiles in facebook.one was with the name of that guy & another one was with a name of a fake name of a fake girl.i made conversation between two profiles & captured screen shot.i show that to my girlfriend & she submitted that to that guy.my intention was to take my girlfriend out from that guy.naturally that guy suspected that both the profiles are fake and those conversation as well and this thing made by me.now the guy is blackmailing me with that things that he will complain against me under cyber crime. Co incidentally the guy is working in IB (intelligence bureau).he often misuse his power and position with others as well..so in this situation I want clean chit from law.my question is that what I did is this a serious criminal offence??how can I save myself?
