Will I be jailed if my cheque bounce's?

i paid my credit card bill through cheque but it was bounced , will they put me in jail

You will not be immediately jailed. You will recieve a legal notice demanding payment of the amount of cheque within 15 days` time.
If you make payment you are safe. Suppose you did not pay up even then, you will later get a summons from court and if you attend court on that day with amount you can pay at court.

Issuing a cheque without maintaining a proper balance and not paying the amount even after receipt of notice is an offence. If you have given the cheque and has got bounced, you can issue another cheque after maintaining the balance or pay the bills by other methods.

Hi, It depends upon the decision of the banker to file cheque bounce case. But, they can do. In case, if they do so then you may need to approach a lawyer to respond to the notice/summon they send. If case is filed then you may be convicted based on the progress of the case.
