what is the procedure of settlement from opposition

Last year on 13th July I married with a girl. The girl left the home after 21 days on 8th August from ghaziabad. Married held from kanpur. 29th Nov 2016 she filled a fir with section ipc 498a,323 , 504 ,506 and dp 3,4. They showed 15 lakh expense in marriage .we not taken single penny in marriage. Now in mediation they demanded 8 lakh fir settlement. We denied . From our side my mother filled a fir on 7 June with section 452,323,504,506 and 147. Now opposition called us for settlement but asking 5 lakh .what should I do now??
procrastinating the matter is best strategy, opposite gang will lower their demands in future because with passage of age the market value of girl diminishes.

In response to your query I would like to suggest you that its sole your call, you have to decide wether you want to contest your case or you would go for settlement, you need to do your research on process of trial and amount of time it will take. Talk to your family and then decide.
