Should a person go to police station when complaint is filed

19-May-2023 (In Criminal Law)
If a lady gives a complaint to police station for not getting married to her, should a person on whom the complaint is give should go to police station by self or should wait for the police to inform him to come or till the FIR is logged, is there any chances that the police forces the person to marry the lady in police station against his will

Dear Sir,

Police will look for the proof along with the complaint. with/without intimation from police, if you walk in then you could be arrested as this may be non-bailable offense ( based on my previous experience ). Better to consult an advocate in the area where the police station has jurisdiction else I may need to discuss with you about this issue.

Yes as you mentioning , generally allegation would be very henious one against you and hence police has no option but to register FIR and arrest person , you should not meet at this point if you have apprehension . Yes police may try and threat to get married with the girl in order to compromise or get arrested , but they cannot force you or get you forcely married , better get in touch with a lawyer who can fight strongly for you .

Do not go to police station directly without anticipatory bail if the FIR is filed against you. It is very likely that they will apprehend you for investigation.

Police cannot force you to marry. If they are doing so, it is nothing but illegality and such marriage will be considered void.
