Person offended by derogatory conversation threatening to file FIR
07-Nov-2023 (In Criminal Law)
I want to know whether a casual, unintentional chat on a whatsapp group, mistakenly refers to a few words considered derogatory to SCs, will constitute an adequate piece of evidence to lodge FIR under Prevention of atrocities against SC/ST Act. Six months have lapsed since the conversation and offended persons repeatedly threat/ blackamail me into their tricks/ fancies by saying that they will lodge n FIR against me using the screenshot of the whatsapp conversation. The conversation was very casual and not intended to hurt anyone and only twice alluded to the insulting words.
Going by what you have shared herein and before advising anything, it would be useful to see what is the conversation is exactly. Though its serious, but SC/ST act does not come into the picture like this... But still it is advised if you would show that conversation..
