Nationality proof for passport verification remark as Sri Lankan

25-Jul-2023 (In Criminal Law)
Hi, My dad applied for a new passport in Coimbatore, TN by surrendering his old passport he got in 1995 which got expired in 2015. There were 2 police verification happened and one got remarked as Sri Lankan. The police are asking us to submit a birth certificate and school certificate. However we are unable provide any of those, since my dad doesnt have a birth certificate and he couldnt apply one since he came from his native when he is 3 years old and the school was closed as well. Please help me with a solution. My dad is 63 years old (DOB: 9.11.1954) and he has driving licence, pan card, Aadhar card and voter id.

No problem sir you can file a complaint to the police station for not tracing the certificate and after some days verified your document the police would issue the not tracing certificate and apply the duplicate copy from your school or you can ask the passport officer to give any affidavit .

You may give a representation that you are indeed an Indian, and submit alongwith all the necessary proof. If still it is rejected without any basis, legal proceedings in the nature of writ may be initiated.
