Is prostitution legal in India

I read about the legitimaty of prostitution in India on wikipedia.Frankly I din't clearly understand anything.So I'll give my real life senario as an example please enlighten me on this taboo topic.I'm a 21 year and I would like to have sexual inter course with a women in return i would give her money(prostitution).I approach an escort service and they provide me with a women who is above the age of 18.I have sexual intercourse with her consent in a hotel and give her the money.As her client am I doing anything against the law?Can i be arrested or criminally prosecuted for any activities above
Yes you can be, as of now it is considered as illegal in most parts of india, expect certain states. You will be treated as accomplice. In certain countries it has become trade, and tourism ( thailand) . In india still it is considered as illegal in most of the states, To some extent the law, which was enacted for moral duties of a citizen, protects its citizens from getting affected physically and financially.
