I've filed a fir against someone for hitting me with knife but not collected FIR copy. Now want to ask police procedure for arresting and investigation and stages for compromise.

You are entitled to get a copy of the check FIR, 1st get a copy of the same from the police, then keep following it with the police officials, legally speaking, nobody is entitled to look at the case diary.

To know the case status you can file progress report application before the concerned magistrate so far arrest is concern it's depends upon the sections under which you lodged the FIR, you can also file a writ petition before the High Court under article 226 for proper investigation.

Hi as per the query case under section 307 IPC is made out, u can enquire about the f.I.r to the local police station and ask them about the progress of investigation moreover you can check in the cjm Court for the same with the help of local lawyer
