Financial fraud case by a person claiming to be investor

We gave 6.25 lacs Rs to a person claiming to be an investor in stock market/ equities through a colleague who claimed to be his close friend. Investor promised 10% return, but didnt give any return after 2 months and is now absconding. What are our legal options?

You can send this guy civil notice for repayment along with interest.

Also you can send this guy criminal notice for cheating and fraud - also find out the details of the other case where he was arrested.

After sending both the notices, if the guy still does not repays you then you may file civil case of recovery of money along with the interest and also criminal case for the cheating and fraud.
