Criminal liability for non payment of wrongly charged bill.

08-Aug-2023 (In Criminal Law)
My name is Armaan Panjwani. I used reliance wipod and the bill per month was supposed to be ?434(and it came ?434 for 7 months) but instead i received a bill of ?1200 for the 8th month which i didnt pay and i told them the reason. The service was disconnected after 10 days(i.e. 10th day of 9th month), now they say my bill is ?2500 and i have a criminal liability, and two days ago i received a legal notice from them in my email. What should i do now? Please help. Thankyou.

Reliance is known for such legal tactics.

Reliance is also known for filing criminal cases for non-payment of bills.

you should send them reply through an Advocate denying the outstanding bill as well as demand that they have send wrong bills just to harass you.

once this notice is sent, then immediately file consumer case in consumer court for disconnecting your service as well as sending wrong bills.

once you file the consumer complaint, then again send them the legal notice again informing that there is no criminal issue involved and the dispute is civil dispute and if Reliance files any criminal complaint against you then you will approach High Court by filing writ petition and expose Reliance on how they are misusing the Court process and procedure to pressurize and blackmail the customers.

hope this helps !

Dear Sir,
is there any documentary evidence showing that u were supposed to get the bill of Rs. 434 only? If yes then there is nothing to worry. We can drag them consumer court for deficiency in service or tell them waive of the extra charges.
