Complainant made to sign on accused side in counter FIR

18-Apr-2023 (In Criminal Law)

Friend (lady) got beaten by neighbor (male) over parking issue, got stitches on backside of head and fractured arm. She lodged fir and neighbor countered it. When on the second day after medical , we wrote "vivechna" in front of police, he asked us to sign at the place of "aaropi". Is police trying to turn the case ?

As per your query, you are not supposed to sign at the place of "aaropi" i.e. accused. As an aggrieved person filing an FIR you are supposed to sign as a complainant " shikayatkarta".

The real answer can be given only after going through the document on which signatures were obtained. However if the police has sent you for medical examination i doubt that they can turn the case easily . If you want to cross check the status of investigation ask for a copy of FIR registered on your complaint and then you can approach higher police authorities to get proper investigation done in the matter.
