How could he sell the land of his Uncle. The sell is void.
If his uncle had given the power of attorney, then the sell is legal and forgery case will not be made out.
However unless I see the documents, I cannot give any definite opinion. I need to know the contents of the FIR.

At the outset I would like to clarify that, if your friend has sold the land just by claiming that the said land belongs to him and to the contrary has not impersonated the owner or falsely claimed to be authorised or empowered by the owner to sell the land on his behalf, the case of forgery won't be made out against your friend. In such a scenario, the High Court may be approached to quash the pending criminal proceedings. And once it is ruled that your friend stands absolved from the charges of forgery, your friend would have an option to enter into a compromise with his uncle. Your uncle can proceed to get his land by getting the fraudulent sale cancelled.
