Friend,
Anyone can register their work/website by sending an application to copyright office in New Delhi or through e-file system in Copyright’s office website.Under Section 44 of the Copyright Act, 1957 (14 of 1957) provide for the registration of all works in which copyright subsists. Chapter IV of the Copyright Rules, 1956 sets out the procedure for the registration of a work. We do it for our clients on regular basis.

You own the copyright of your website from the day when you created it unless there's a contract otherwise. However it is always better to get it protected under law and in India Copyright Act is there for same. If the website have some other specialities as well then that can be protected under other intellectual property rights of India. Once you have the rights under IPR laws of India you can go ahead with the protection under international laws as well but certainly not before that.

In India Copyright law is governed by Copyright Act, 1957. It is in consonance with berne convention according to which an Indian copyright registration will be applicable across all the countries who are member of Berne convention.

As far as procedure is considered a copyright application may be filled electronically on the official website of copyright office, you may refer the website website for more information.

You may also consider engaging a lawyer to help you in filing copyright application.
