Telecom provider is charging more than the bill

04-Apr-2023 (In Consumer Court Law)
I have used idea postpaid SIM of Rs.299 plan and I used it for 2 months. I paid the first month bill. But for second month I got Rs.777 of bill, which is high. Due to lack of awareness I've used more minutes of talktime, so they charged me Rs.777. I paid only Rs.350 and I asked them for waive the some bill amount. As I didn't pay the bill they blocked by number and I also leaved it. Mean while they used to call me for pending bills and I requested them to waive the bill. But now, after two months, i.e; now I received a notice by post saying that I have a pending amount of Rs.799 and pleasepay within seven days of receipt of this notice or else legal action will be taken. What I have to do sir? Please suggest me and what will the amount if they proceed this to court??

Here before taking a post paid plan you have signed to abide to all the conditions. Inl your plan 299 which will cover some talk time minutes freely. when you received your second bill you could have read the bill that was sent to you by post or by email. As per your query it is clear that you have to pay the dues. what I suggest you is to approach the concerned idea office and pay the due amount and close your post paid connection. otherwise they can approach the court and they can claim the principal amount, interest and other reliefs.

Hello,

You said "Due to lack of awareness I've used more minutes of talk time, so they charged me Rs.777". This means the usage could have been more from your end, that's the reason why they billed you more than the usual. You should have read the terms and conditions of the service/usage before you opted for the connection or you should have talked to the customer service representatives of IDEA on how to use the service and how you will be billed etc. Now as they have sent you a legal notice, it is good to approach them and ask them for the complete break up of the bill and if you notice that they have charged more than the required, you can immediately send a reply notice to them saying your version and thereafter, approach Consumer Forum and file a complaint against them for deficiency of services. However, if you see that they have charged correctly, then better pay the outstanding amount and relive yourself rather than fight it out in the court without any use. Feel free to contact me if you need any help.
