Mobile Service Provider deactivate my number without intimation

Since 2007,I am using prepaid mobile service and my service provider deactivate my number on 19'Aug due to non-usage for 90 days. But they didn't intimate me before deactivation and they claiming that they had sent sms but i didn't receive any sms from them and they told that they gave my number to another customer. I am in desperate need of my number and what should i do to get my number back?
If you have not used the sim for the number of days continuously which may lead to deactivation of your number, you cannot do anything about it once it has been deactivated. The service provider will blame the computerised system which disconnects such inactive numbers which remains inactive for a longer period. In fact the service provider not even need to inform you about such an action so any legal action against this may not yield any fruit.
If you want to retrieve the number and suppose it has not been allotted to some other customer so far, you may give an application in writing to the service provider to consider your request. Generally the company will not deactivate and reallot the number immediately after 90 days inactiveness, I believe your period should very long one hence the company has allotted to some other customer. If the number has been allotted to some other customer and that custer is regularly using this number, it will not be legal to retrieve that number from that customer and re-allot to you. As you were not interested in keeping this phone number active so far, what is your sudden interest in it. Dont waste your time in unnecessary legal tussles, you may not achieve any result in your favor.
