Harassment From collection Agency. Can i claim compensation for it?

I had some medical issues due to which i am behind on my payments to couple of banks and they are not willing to work with me and have given me false promises that they will convert to EMI and took some payments from me and now they are not honoring anything. Now abusing and threatening me and my family I have lodged a police complaint also but still getting these calls How can i legally fight with them and claim harassment?
Have a legal notice addressed to the Bank and try and have the issue mediated. Get the bank to restructure the loans.
As far as the harassment is concerned, you should file a complaint with the RBI as the bank in question is flouting the norms prescribed by the RBI with respect to the collection of debts.
Also, file a complaint with the local police station. You always have the option of approaching the consumer courts.
