Extra charge by taxi service what action can I take

07-Jul-2023 (In Consumer Court Law)
Hi Team, My concern is regarding the Toll Charges being collected at Chennai International Airport. I have booked a cab  for an airport drop and I have been charged 100/- extra as Airport Toll Charges. But Airport Toll is not applicable in case of drops and if you exit within 10 minutes. So I called the driver and confirmed that he never paid toll on exit. So my journey is not liable for toll charges. Still I have been charged by taxi . So can I file a case in consumer court for unfair trade practice because this money never gets paid anywhere?

If the cab is run by a registered company having proper licence you may book the company under the consumer protection act, also if he is a regular airport cab driver using his own vehicle he can be booked. But if he is just a driver and driving the vehicle on contract basis with thee owner, then a criminal complaint may be given against him with the police as well as with the transport department to cancel his permit since he indulges in cheating and fraud with customers and behaves arrogantly when asked about it.

Draft notice seeking explanation from them, failure to seek satisfactory reply, you can escalate the same to consumer forum. If you think it is a pattern, by assembling like minded people you can escalate the same to High court in the form of PIL.
