What is legal procedure to retrieve lost original Document?

During our posting we lost our some documents including original dob certificate of our son and as admission date was getting closed so we got a dublicate dob certificate from our native place but in that dob was wrong as we had to get the admission so we submitted that only now we got our lost original dob certificate and want to change it in school as well.son is in class 7th.plz advise.else every where we have original dob only school has dublicate dob certificate.
First of all apply for the birth certificate of your son in municipal corporation. They will provide you the birth certificate which is valid all over india. Then submit that certificate in your school for the correction of date of birth in records.
