Caveat is an application in the Indian court means that you are requesting any court that if in case a specified person or organisation files a case in the court in which you are having some valid interest, than no order should be passed by that Hon'ble court without giving you a notice about that case being filed and also without listening your side in that matter.
The caveat remains in force only for 90 days and if during that duration no case gets filed from the opposite side than you have to again file a fresh caveat in the court.
After reading your query, I understand that the opposite party has filed a case in High Court than you may file a Caveat in order to be heard before the court pass any order.
Section 148-A of Code of Civil Procedure empowers a person to lodge a caveat.

you need to give complete information and how your case travelled from lower court to high court and if there has been any material defect while recording facts that you will have to tell once case has been reached to high court , wheather it has been reached after decision or you went in want of intervention by high court you did not make it clear?
as far as caveat is concerned it is a judicial process available that in any case which is likely to come between two or more parties if any party files caveat it means party wants that it should be heared before paasing any order of stay or of any other nature under rule 159 it is filed.
you need to contact to your advocate in this regard.
