The sale is governed by the terms stipulated in the sale deed. Why does the purchaser want an alternative land? Is there any stipulation in the sale deed executed by your father? Without knowing these details your question could not be answered.

Dear Sir / Madam

The question is confusing. Whether any suit is pending on the property sold by your father. What are the conditions upon which they bought the property from your father some 20 years back. Therefore now it is time barred and not liable to pay any money to any body. Do approach the District collector to get your matter solved.
