Legal action against college for charging money other than fees

20-Jul-2023 (In Civil Law)
I got admission into a private marine engineering college and pursued my B.Tech. from there. The college claims to be a non profit organisation. The fees for four years was 14 lakhs inclusive of everything. The college also provides placement to all the students. The college is actually owned by a manning company (which provides seafarers to various companies). The manning company then cuts 800 US dollars from the salary of every person placed claiming that it is to reimburse the remaining amount of fees. But the fees is actually already payed and the 800 dollars is just an extortion. One cannot do anything about it as the company is providing job. So the students have no option but to sign the document claiming that they are ready to allot 800 dollars from their salary for reimbursing the fees. Every year hundreds of students get ripped of this amount. What legal recourse do we have?

In this case you need to look upon the agreement and terms which you agreed upon during the course of admission. It is also to be seen that whether there is any violation of the terms of agreement. If there is any violation thten you can file a suit in the consumer forum and also you can file a suit in the court of civil jurisdiction for the violation of your rights.
