How to sue for defamation

verbally making a debasing personal remark by one committee member (male) of CHS about Secy (67-yr old single lady) to another managing committee member (lady). Male member tells lady member that Secy is divorcee, she cannot manage a husband, how can she manage a society!

Defamation is an area of law that provides a civil remedy when someone's word end up causing harm to your reputation or your livelihood. Slander is defamation that is spoken. A person that has suffered may sue the person that make the statement under defamatiion law

you can very well file for defamation after an appropriate legal procedure. its a cake walk to get things either settled by filing for a defamation or get a handsome compensation or get the defamator to task. in this case a criminal defamation.

Here if you want to go for defamation issue a legal notice seeking unconditional apology.
Alternatively you can avail some remedy under I P C as well. Refer s 504 etc.
Approach local police station and try.
