How to file case for mental harassment against PhD mentors

22-May-2023 (In Civil Law)
I am pursuing PhD at CSIR, mysore and PhD registration was done at sastra university in tamilnadu. In fact, my guide at CSIR, mysore is husband of my guide at Shasta university. I would like to bring to your kind notice that I have under have severe mental harassment by the guides simultaneously. After working for 3 years at mysore ( upto 29/11/16), I was forced to resign from CSIR, mysore and joined at Shasta university and threatened me to discontinue PhD if I'm not able to spend 2-3 lakh of money towards research. Under intolerable pressures I have submitted my resignation with in 1 week of joining at sastra university, Thanjavur. They have accepted my resignation without my consent. Soon I receive the memo I complained to higher authorities at mysore and complained at university as well. Under these circumstances, I would like to file the case after completion of my phD (1-2y) ? Where should I have to file case ( mysore or tamilnadu)? Kindly let me know info or preventive measures

You will have to file the said case in the competent court having jurisdiction over the loacality. Now, the question is whom you want to sue, if you want to sue the guide at CSIR then you will have to file an application in the University, if there is no solution to the same then you can file a police complaint. Also, if you want to sue the guide at Sashtra University then you will have follow the same procedure as mentioned above but in the jurisdictional court of TN.

This is a very sensitive issue and I suggest you to maintain patience and don't take any decision in haste. This is a matter of your education and career and life. Don't spit out hatred or displeasure to the guides. Request the authorities to Change your guide under intolerable conditions. Also you may complain or take this further to the UGC. If the UGC doesn't take any action, you may proceed to court. With regard to the place, if you are to get PhD degree from Sastra Univ which is from Tamilnadu, you have to file the case in Tamilnadu only. Hope you find this helpful. Goodluck.
